Warning - Porn links on Login

I just tried logging in and got a porn pop-up in my work computer. Reloading, it doesn't happen.

Hi @TonyS9168,
which site were you using?

Ok well that's a new one !

Dang it nobody evel lets me get to the good stuff on login...

That said its a new level of re-direct.
And JIC it is something on your computer I am throwing this your way.
Its time consuming but often results in a faster computer and even maybe a computer that has a little better security if you use some of the items on a regular basis.

There are quite a few steps to ensure the computer is safe to use again.pdf (154 KB)

That's 'cos you're not doing it at work

in my work computer.

Try wiping the entire search history on your computer. That usually solves the pop-up errors that occur on my computers. It's some sort of rogue cookies thing, probably. The other thing I do is run a scan of all the downloads within the past week/month and sometimes something interestingly malicious pops up. I proceed to delete that thing and block any downloads from the same location. It's a pain to do, but it works.

  • Dangerously Explosive

This site is hacked likely.
When I click on updated topics, it sometimes pop an ad tracker like 1/10 times.
This is one of the ad site http://ouo.press/cNSjk5.

It might be malware on my end but I doubt it. It happened on OS X and an iPad.

mistergreen

This just the latest to pop-up. I attempted to open WARNING - Website Malware - Website and Forum - Arduino Forum in which I first raised this issue, and guess where I came out? You guessed right, http://ouo.press/cNSjk5.

The appearence of these redirected links is VERY random. It might only happen once a day or so, and rarely the same site more than a couple of times. The main thing is, though, is that it is ONLY the Arduino forum website that it happens.

As I said in my original thread, I am using full paid versions of AVG, Malwarebytes & SuperAntiSpyware, none of which pick anything up but the occasional tracking cookie.

I am convinced the site is compromised, and I wish the people who look after it would come onto the forum, and let us know what the heck is happening, and what is being done about it.

The site should be closed down until this is fixed!

.

Well, that settles it. We're popping up the same ad site.

Porn pop-up happened to me, too.

It just gets better and better

Today has been the worst I have ever seen it (it has been happening for ages), but now kids are being exposed to porn links, its totally unacceptable

It didnt have to get this far, they have had plenty of warnings and time.

The founders of this site should be ashamed, its on borrowed time

Change your passwords guys, I have received more spam today to my registered email than ever seen in the ten years I have had the address, obviously I cant say if its linked or not but it seems very coincidental

I submitted a report regarding this to the forum issue tracker:

If anyone has more information/screenshots/etc. to add to it feel free to comment there, maybe it will give it more chance of being taken seriously. Unfortunately it's Friday afternoon in Italy right now so we may not see any action taken regarding this until Monday.

What more information could they possibly need or expect?

Redirecting to porn sites like how could it be any worse?, David and Banzi are pathetic to be brutally honest. They dont care in the slightest

David is too wrapped up in twitter to bother logging in here, since the Arduino vs Arduino debacle they havent been bothered. Perhaps people should of supported that other guy who claimed they ripped him off

He must be laughing his socks off at this joke

I agree that any report of this sort of thing should be taken seriously, especially with so many reports, but I've found that with bug reports in general it's most effective to present as much evidence and information as possible. Often developers in general (not just Arduino) tend to take the attitude of "user error until proven otherwise". I had one redirect to a casino site weeks ago and nothing since so I'm not the best person to argue this case. My failure to see these issues that everyone is experiencing now may be related to me using the NoScripts Firefox extension as I installed it shortly after my experience with the casino site redirect. If the developer is unable to reproduce an issue they are less likely to take it seriously. Also, there are some really smart people here. If anyone can give them some advice on getting this fixed it could speed up the process.

If nothing is done, google will eventually flag the site.

Yeah, prpops.com and ouo.io here.

Came here to ask if anybody had the same problem... yeah, pr0n popups are bad, I'm at work... I know I perhaps should be working instead of browsing  but come on!

I knew something was fishy because it happened last night at home, too, so I didn't click anything...

I got this after trying to get to the forum.
Chrome browser locked up, had to remove and reinstall chrome to get rid of this screen.

The web masters of this web site are not being forthright what is happening, come on tell us what you are doing about this crap!

They arent doing anything Larry, it didnt have to get this far but no one (who can do anything) cares

Where will it end?, its not going to just go away

I reckon they have access to our email addresses and possibly passwords, I have received more spam mail than ever since the crap went up a gear

Its a sad story, the site owners are on Twitter everyday hailing the community yet they cant be bothered to log in

Actions speak louder than words, redirected to Porn and not even a post from them

On my issue report @smellai replied at 2017-04-07 0923 PDT:

We found the issue, but we are not sure we completely fixed it. Let us know if it happens again. Thanks everybody for the reports, especially to the people that found out the fake google analytics scripts!

So hopefully the problem is solved. I just temporarily allowed all scripts and have not been able to reproduce the problem so far. If anyone still encounters the redirects please do report it. It may be best to do so on the issue report since that seems to be getting official notice or you can comment here and I'll relay it to GitHub.

@pert

Many thanks for your assistance in getting this issue resolved (++karma my man).

@smellai

Glad you got, hopefully, to the root of this problem. Better late than never.
