I need to fit the potentiometer, but this is how it looks next to how it should look.
As a result, the zoetrope doesn't work even though everything else is done normally. What should be done?

You can try to fit it in different orientation whichever works out best for you!
(Just remember to do connections according to circuit diagram)

I was Facing the same problem as you you and there are a few mistakes between the book images and the real connecting way on the breadboard so no problem you just put he potentiometer any place that fit in
and when you start your arduino maybe you will have to press on the potentiometer by your finger to get the result and that what I have done
