I want to ask that for scrolling text on led matrix should I use 74595 or HEF4794.
I have read on internet that HEF4794 can only be used to sink current and is better than 74595.Is it true???
Can I use HEF4794 to source current as well??
The HEF4794 has open drain outputs and can only sink current (abs max of 40mA per output, so fine for 20mA LEDs). Google " datasheet pdf" to find out about a chip.
