Is it possible to get the serial monitor to work with 38400 baudrate? The reason why I'm asking is because it's not in the dropdown menu...
and on the upper side 250K + 500K baud too ...
Use another terminal program such as puTTY
...R
For Windows, you can try my Serial Monitor Deluxe, there you can define any baudrate you desire (as long as the hardware supports it):
that's all possible, but why not in the Serial Monitor...

Because the default Arduino Serial Monitor does not include 38,400 as an option in the baud drop-down list...

why not is the original question of the OP
What? Is this a Windows problem or something? It's there on my Mac!

Now that is interesting - it's definitely not in Windows (IDE 1.5.8 ).
It was in 0.22 and 1.04 ...
(in fact I would like a field to fill in any baud rate I want like 45321 or whatever, there exists enough obscure HW that works on non standard baud rates to prevent intrusion.
38000 fine for me in W7, Vista & XP with 1.0.6
Also missing in the 1.5.8.
- 14.400
- 28.800
