LiPo Over Discharged

I have a 1000mAh 1S LiPo battery connected to my project (MPPT Solar Monitor) that is used as a backup to keep the Zero powered up if the Solar system cannot keep the main SLA topped up for an overnight run (common at this time of the year).

The battery has been discharged to way below what I call a safe voltage. Does the Zero not have a LiPo cut off to prevent this? If not it is a fire hazard waiting to happen as LiPo's do not like to be abused.

The voltage when I placed it onto my CellPro PowerLab 6 read the volatge at 1.2V (Absolute minimum should be 3.0V for LiPo). Attached is the graph from the CellPro software

Any solutions/redesigns for this?

The ZERO is very similar to the MKR1000 and I haven't seen your issue on any of my LIPO batteries (750 to 1500 mAh)

The only issue I did see was with one out of a batch from China that simply did not charge from the get go using any type of LIPO charger.

I trust your findings but wonder what your ZERO says about it ?
There is a battery test sketch for them.
Maybe pointless but you never know.
