Which chip?

Hello everyone,

I'm very new to all of this, so please bear with me. I would like to build the Arduino DMX shield shown here

http://playground.arduino.cc/DMX/DMXShield

but when I google the chip listed (SN75176) I get multiple results and I don't know which to choose.

I'd like to just start out working with a breadboard and make sure it works, if that makes a difference.

Any help is appreciated.

Michael

If you want to use it in a solderless breadboard, without having to solder it to a carrier board, you should choose the DIP (Dual Inline Package) chip.

Thank you!

Michael

The SN75176 is no doubt sourced by several manufacturers as its the de-facto common RS485 driver,
they should all work the same (unless running at exotic temperatures in which case the exact version
can matter).
Make sure to get the right package of course.
