Im a newbie to arduino, electronics and all things e-textiles. I have a project going where I have successfully attached 3 LEDs to a lilypad twinkle board. Now I want to control this with a push button. I tried attaching the push button between the cell battery and twinkle board:+ in cell battery to S on push button, S on Cell battery to + on twinkle board. - on cell battery to - on push button. - on push button to - on twinkle board and then LED's attached to twinkle. When I switch on the cell battery, the LEDs light up. when I push the button I need to hold in physically in for then LED's to stop working. As soon as I release the push button the LEDs come back on.
Can a push button be connected to a twinkle board. Can anyone out there in arduino land help?
Can a push button be connected to a twinkle board.
Almost certainly. If you provided a link, the answer could be definite.

A picture is worth a thousand words. I get lost trying to follow that.
The button you used is called a "momentary" pushbutton - it only makes or breaks a connection while being held down.
The kind of button you want is called a "latching" button. When pressed and released, it will make/break the connection, and stay that way until pressed and released again. An on/off switch, but mechanically arranged into a button.
Adafruit also has a breakout board with a small momentary button on it and some circuitry that allows the whole thing to act like a latching button. This is smaller than some of the buttons offered, and if you want you can remove the button on the board and solder on wires going to a momentary button of your choice. The circuitry on the board does continuously consume a tiny amount of current (0.0005 milliamperes), but this is small enough to ignore, unless you expect the battery to still be good after a year or more of storage. If none of these are what you are looking for, the usual electronics suppliers (digikey, mouser, element14, etc.) carry enormous selections of latching on-off pushbuttons.
With any of these, just install it how you installed your momentary pushbutton, so that it interrupts either the (+) or the (-) lines going into the twinkle board.
