Note that the distance between digital pins 7 and 8 is 160 mil (0.16"), not an even multiple of the 100 mil spacing of the other pins.
This means that side of the board won't plug into a breadboard because breadboards have 0.1 inch spacing. I have seen headers that fix that offset sold but I don't know whether they are available now.

OK, I thought you were plugging the shield into a breadboard. I have see shields that come with breadboards on them:

That's not plugged into the shield in any way. The breadboard has some double sided foam tape on the back so it's just stuck on there. You would need to make any electrical connections using jumpers from the headers or the small amount of prototyping circuit board that is not covered by the breadboard.
