Title: ALERT! Smilie's got blinking eyes.
Post by: graynomad on Jan 08, 2011, 08:02 am
While composing a reply I just used the live preview with a :) in the text and I see that the eyes blink.

Thought I should alert the community ASAP. (well it's been a slow day)

I see that the eyes blink

I've had that happen after going without sleep for more than 24 hours or consuming too many organic molecules containing a hydroxyl group.    [smiley=wink.gif]

He's right!  If you click the "live preview" option, it does blink!  But only in  the live preview, weird.

Can't believe I fell for this. No blinking on my live preview. :) For those that did see the blink, did the smily blink this?

Thanks sciguy, I'm not going crazy then (or we both are). Not trying to FOOL you liudr.

Maybe the different results are a browser thing, I'm using IE8.

EDIT: Tried these and I get the same with all of them.

Firefox 3.0.11
Safari 4 beta
Opera 9.64
Chrome 8.0.552.224

They blink for me, but only every now and then, you have to be staring at it to even see it

Of course only you can modify (and therefore see) it, but hey, that's the happiest post I've ever seen.

This is a test  :)  In the event of a real message this post would contain

 :
Stand by.

Real message comming through

It is not the same file. Seems the preview file  [smiley=smiley.gif] is 808 bytres long, and the embedded one  :) is 1107 bytes, and does also contain animation frames. Both are called smiley.gif

See ?

Spot the difference between these two
:)  [smiley=smiley.gif]
I see a difference on the posted version (only one blinks), both blink in the live preview.

They both point to different files, so we can assume that the live preview simply uses smilies from a different folder and it's not a conspiracy after all. (http://www.arduino.cc/yabbfiles/Smilies/smiley.gif)
