The instructions in getting started don't work for Uno R3 and Vista.
I didn't write down exactly what I did but it was like this.
After the auto install fails go to control panel device manager.
find the "unknown devce" in the list. This is the Uno board.
open its properties and select the Drivers Tab - update drivers.
drill down to install manually - let me pick
choose device - the first USB device in the list.
Select option to install driver from disk.
Browse to the drivers folder and you should find UNO.inf
Do it and you are working.
Anything like this (http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/Windows)?
No. You'd need to follow step by step to see how it fails. As others have. My brief suggestion works.
