The announcement on the blog (http://arduino.cc/blog/?p=117) was made by Massimo Banzi.
All the info on the arduino.cc page for the shield (http://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoEthernetShield) comes from
David A. Mellis. (Based on this (http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoEthernetShield?action=diff))

I'm wondering were the discussion about this piece of hardware it taking place, or who I can contact in order to contribute to the effort of getting the SD reader supported. I have asked this question (http://arduino.cc/pipermail/developers_arduino.cc/2008-December/000261.html) on the developers mailing list.

Any ideas?
