Title: Project 7 - Musical Keyboard: Resistor Question
Post by: ZRosenberg on Aug 03, 2014, 08:49 pm
Good Day,

In project 7, we're introduced to the concept of a resistor ladder. Each switch along the ladder is fed power through a resistor, each of varying resistance. My question regards the orientation of these resistors:

According to the instructions, the gold band of each resistor (the tail) faces the power IN, while the head is directed toward the switch. I would think that since the direction of current is from the power IN to the switch, the tail end should face the switch.

Why is it the opposite?

Directions:
(+) -||||- (switch) - (-)

Expectation:
(+) -||||- (switch) - (-)

It does not matter. Resistors are bi-directional.
