I heard Lady Ada mentioning (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpEgPFR5dtY&feature=youtu.be&t=959) the shield is capable of connecting via SSL. In regard to the security issues with libssl in recent years it is prime to be vigilant about updates and have a fully automated update process at hand. In pure software I have such a process in place but I'd find it rather excruciating to perform the documented (https://www.arduino.cc/en/Hacking/WiFiShieldFirmwareUpgrading) procedure for firmware upgrades on a regular basis. I see future Shield 101 projects popping up on shodan.io in the thousands.
What's on the roadmap? How will we mitigate this in the future?
