Title: LoRa and GPS send NMEA
Post by: vk4tec on Dec 04, 2017, 04:45 am
Hello

I was wanting to get in contact with people that have been using GPS parsers and sending NMEA cut down data over LoRa.

I have many GPS, and a LoRa Shield operating on 915 MHz.

I was hoping to be able to either send the $GPRMC sentence in its entirity or cut down.

Any help greatly appreciated .

Regards

Andrew ( Ham Radio VK4TEC )

Post your program code.

Post links to the datasheets for the GPS and LoRa devices you are using with that program.

I am using adafruit ultimate gps

What I want to do is form a nmea sentence based on a star or carriage return then print it to serial monitor

I then go on to use a Stx Lora shield

Start packet
Send data
End packet

I can get it echo to monitor but not send

I was hoping someone might have some sonde that works

Or a gps and Lora shield in one

I was wanting to get in contact with people that have been using GPS parsers and sending NMEA cut down data over LoRa.
Been experimenting with that since early 2015.

Lots of background information on LoRa and GPS tracking here. (https://github.com/LoRaTracker/Test-Reports)

The document;

Semtech LoRa Transceivers - a KISS approach to Long Range Data Telemetry - January 2015.pdf

Gives some background to the first experiments using LoRa for long range tracking.
