Having real issues with my new(to me) laser jet printer, and was just wondering if anyone knows a good forum where i could get some help?
Tell everyone here a bit more about which printer & what problems and I think someone may jump in with a suggestion. 
Ok its a HP laserjet 2100 connected though a 36pin printer to USB cable into my Mac Book running OS X 10.5.8.
First when I click on "add printer", I get no printers showing up in an of the windows? (with the printer all plugged in and switched on.)
SO.....After some reading up online I thought as im using a USB-to-parallel converter cables, I would install usbtb (a high performance CUPS backend driver for USB printing in Mac OS X) http://buymelunch.org/printing/usbtb/
And after installing and running the set up it detected a USB printer, so i picked the hp2100 driver and gave it a test print but in the printer job window it says connecting, printing job (upto 77%) then says printer is reporting an error, and the printers error light starts flashing. one or twice it has printed the first inch of the page.
But this morning im just getting printer is reporting an error, and the printers error light flashing

For my own laserjet 2500 I fitted a jetdirect network card, plugged it into the router and bypassed all the usb/parallel faffing about.

what's the processes for fitting and installing (as im a little slow) so i can just plug the jetdirect network card into the back of my 2100, then ethernet into one of the 3 spare LANs in the back of my router/or macbook?)
how would someone go about setting that up in the printer setting part of OS X....? :-*
Unfortunately I don't use a mac (i'm on Linux) so I'll leave that to someone else.
From several years old memory I think you log into the printer network card (once it is installed in the printer obviously) via a web browser, give the printer a network name and set it to get a network address via dhcp from the router.
If you use cups printer drivers they have a driver for the jetdirect network cards.
All this was a total mystery to me when I first got the printer but I managed to get it going with little difficulty, although it did take a bit of manual reading to figure out the proper entry in the cups config line (again, setup in a web browser).
