Topic: Help creating car shift indicator (P,R,N,D,3,2,1) (Read 337 times) previous topic - next topic

Hi!, my wife┬┤s car have a small trouble, a 12v incandescent lamp , melted the shift (P,R,N,D,3,2,1) plastic indicator, now I am trying to build a led indicator (alphanumeric display) or LED matrix display, I was trying to use a 27c64 eprom and a counter to generate the letters in an 8X8 matrix display, but a friend said me that was a better idea to use an arduino system, may somebody help me to understand this system???

Please clarify. Was the original a single 12v lamp moved to illuminate a letter (P,R,N, etc.). Or did each letter have it's own 12v lamp?

From where are you getting the information to light the proper LED?
