Topic: Wont upload to board (Arduino Duemilanove) (Read 1 time) previous topic - next topic

Hello everybody :)..

(i am newbie, just started - i have no experience of electronic)

Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit

I just bought my new Arduino board (Duemilanove) and some LEDs.

The first thing i did, was to follow this guide: http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/Windows. I was so stupid, i plugged in the usb for the arduino before i installed anything or followed the guide. The 'Found New Hardware' came up, but i just closed it. And now, when i come to  number "4 | connect the board" in the guide - i plug in the USB to the computer, but then the 'Found New Hardware' wont popup? - What should i do? - help!

Second, i just skipped number 4 and did everything else as the guide told me to. When i want to open the Arduino software, it wont open. There just pop up a windows application named 'Microsoft Windows' says: "arduino.exe stopped working" and some other text - you probably know it, I GOT WINDOWS VISTA HOME PERIMIUM 32bit.

But when i open the other file "run.bat" the program starts.

I select the serial port "COM3" (i have a USB Arduino Board).

Then when i wanna upload the code i just wrote, i click:

- The play button (Verify) - it says: Binary sketch size: 1124 bytes (of a 14336 byte maximum)

- And then last i click 'Upload to I/O Board' - but then it comes up with this error after a few secounds:

PROBLEM UPLOADING TO BOARD. See (link to troubleshooting) (i followed the troubleshooting, but it still not works)

Binary sketch size: 1124 bytes (of a 14336 byte maximum)

avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x30
avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x5

Btw. the TX or RX doesn't light when i try to upload. And when i put in a LED to the GND and pin 13, it just blinks in same order as the L ( the L ligh is over the TX light - look at the picture i in the top).

I hope some of you can help me ;)..

p.s. /btw:
When i open the Device Manager, and select Ports (COM & LPT) theres no USB Serial Port (COM5), only a:
"Standard seriel connection via Bluetooth (COM4)" - why?

Bye everybody - have a nice day ;)

oh. everything works just fine now.

thank you all ! :)

oh. everything works just fine now.
It would help others if you were to tell us what you did to get it working (if you know, sometimes it's just 'magic')

oh yeah, of course.

I just deletede all the software i installed from the guide, went to my device manager an reset the port i wanted to use.

Then i followed the guide again.
