I was looking at the CAN lib and the ESP32 is mentioned there - so, it's possible to connect up an external 3.3V CAN transceiver, such as a TI SN65HVD230 via pins 24 and 28 of the NINA module for CAN bus control.
The level of integration of some of these parts is amazing. I realize on this board the FPGA is more suited to that task but the ESP32 module has an internal built-in SJA1000 compatible CAN controller; and there's CAN code available on the esp-if github site.
