Let's recap. Your supply voltage is 3.7V nominal. Less than that when the batteries are < 50% charged. Your displays have Vf of 3.3V. So you have less than half a volt of headroom for driver circuits & current limiting. They may exist, but I don't know of any driver chips that will do the job. Everything I know about is going to need around 1~1.5V more than the Vf, so that's why I think you need 5V supply. You can get DC-DC step-up converters that are probably 85%+ efficient.
