Hi. I posted a couple of posts about an Arduino MEGA2560 ( 8u2 not 16u2 ) not uploading and the arduino reporter spewing out:
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout

etc...

Well, the kind people from Nichegeek in China sent me a new board and AGAIN I have the same problem.
The port I am connected to is: /dev/tty.usbmodem1d11
The board selected is mega2560/adk
No response from board on upload of even simple sketches...
Same garbage spewing from reporter....
I would like to know, Did anyone find a solution for this problem?? I know it has happened to a number of users...

Cheers 4 now..

You are buying a clone.  Who knows what firmware the 8u2 (or 2560) has been programmed with.

Yeah. Definitely a clone. :s
it uploads ok using parallels for mac
but not the mac.

So is there a way i can burn the original files onto the 8u2/2560????

The 8U2 can be put into DFU mode and programmed over USB.

Or you can use a programmer to re-flash its firmware.  The 2560 requires a programmer.

BTW, you might want to check into the '?' key on your keyboard.  Based on this post and others from you, it appears to get stuck when you press it.

The key isn't stuck. Its a bad habit, I do it with exclamation marks as well.  :smiley-red:
I looked at the DFU info you sent. Thanks.
Here is the USB port info the macs system profiler gives me..
Arduino Mega 2560:

  Product ID:   0x0010
  Vendor ID:   0x2341
  Version:   0.01
  Serial Number:   74132343530351F0E162
  Speed:   Up to 12 Mb/sec
  Manufacturer:   Arduino (www.arduino.cc)
  Location ID:   0x1d100000
  Current Available (mA):   500
  Current Required (mA):   100

So it appears to have the right version of the loader...?..
Would it be possible that the Chinese version has a different version on it that only gives USB access to PCs and not MACs? (there i did it!)
