Topic: Arduino cannot run error.... please help (Read 1 time) previous topic - next topic

I don't know what happened...  Arduino ran fine last time I used it.  Today I tried opening it and got this message

"Arduino cannot run because it could not create a folder to store your settings."

I have Arduino 022, arduino 1.0 and processing installed in my system....  all three stopped working and give me the same error message.

I checked the preferences.txt file in
C:/users/fxmech/appData/Arduino

reads:

I do have a folder called C:/users/fxmech/My Documents/Arduino
and my sketches are in there...

User fxmech is the administrator (and only) user on this windows 7 PC....

Any ideas???   I tried re uploading Arduino 1.0 and installing it in a new folder for that one gave me the same error message....

fxmech

OK looks like the problem is solved.

The fix was to go to the Arduino.exe file and open up the properties and within that choose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR...

Not sure what changed them all...  maybe a windows update????

Hope this helps if any one else runs into the same issue.

Nishant_Sood

Most probably a systems settings was altered by the firewall or you or the upadate ,any one of the three causing Run as Administrator needed.
