Topic: How to power GSM breakout board with max 1 A, 3.6-4.5V (Read 846 times) previous topic - next topic

I'm trying to connect a SIM300 breakout board to my arduino project. The GSM runs on between 3.3 to 4.5V and can draw 1 A during transmission and .25 A in standby.  My arduino has onboard 3V3 and 5V regulators and can provide max currents of only 500 mA.
Any ideas? I'm fairly new to arduino.
Thanks

you will need to provide external power sources that exceed the max currents involved
