Hello All,

I want to know the exact difference in functionality between Ethernet Shield and Ethernet board. The ethernet board doesn have a USB connectivity and how a Ethernet board can be dealt with connecting to System and running the sketches.I am beginner of Aurdino and i would really appreciated any help reg this.

Thanks in advance

You're going to need to post links to the products you're describing or you won't get an accurate answer. There are too many ethernet-related products that can be used with Arduinos to know what you mean by a "board" and "shield".

I think everyone was waiting for Google to post a reply, but I don't think it's going to happen.

Well gee given how common this question is they probably mean:

Board:  http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoBoardEthernet
Shield:  http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoEthernetShield

You identified the only different.  The Arduino Ethernet doesn't have an on-board USB to Serial chip.  So you must use an external USB to Serial cable (like a FTDI cable) to program the board.
