I'm looking into doing some home automation later on in the year and I thought I'd start with access control for the front door of my house using RFID.

I've already had some experience with 125 kHz tags, but I am well aware of how easy they are to sniff and clone, so these are obviously out of the question. I was thinking of using a 13.56MHz secure RFID card.

I have done a little research and have found that Atmel and NXP both offer secure RFID Cards (CryptoRF and Mifare Plus/DESFire EV1), but I was unable to find out much about them beyond the marketing brochures.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these, specifically using them with an Arduino. I had tried to find a company which sold a reader/writer for the Mifare DESFire EV1 which I could buy and play around with, but to no avail. There is even less on CryptoRF and the Mifare Plus.
