I am going to be building an LED cube and it uses the 74hc574 shift register, does anybody have any small projects that I can make to learn how it works?

How about just connecting up 8 LEDs and making them blink in sequence?

What about one dimensional pong.
The light runs to the end and you have to press a button at exactly the right time to send it back. You can make it one player it two.

They would both be good. Could either of you provide a bit more detail?
Thanks

Start with a knight rider example

Extend it for more LEDs.
Then look at the button tutorial to I treat with it.
