Hi.
The ebay units, each unit will give you speed type readings, as in pulses per time, but not direction , so it is not an encoder, it is a chopper or interrupter unit.
The HT is a quadrature encoder, each unit will give speed, and direction if you use both of the outputs. This is what is special about a quadrature encoder.

So it depends if you want speed, or speed and direction detection.
