The X-stop is supposed to fit in the circlips, then bolt into the nylon spacers; the spacers are too close to the bearing, though. I can't cut down the X-stop. Will it affect the device if I put some sort of extension on the base where the nylon spacers go?

Solution: Nylon bends. Pushed the spacers over until I could get the bolts in.

Slightly bend the Nylon studs indeed, it does not affect the operation of the printer but only causes the x-axis to shift by a small amount
