Topic: Arduino Proto Shield Rev. 3 - RST instead of SS connected (Read 540 times) previous topic - next topic

Hi all,

I bought an assembled Arduino Proto Shield R3 and get confused about two things:

1. On http://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoProtoShield it's stated, that pin 5 is connected to SS, but AFAICS it's connected to RST. Is the documentation wrong or the delivered shield?

2. What it's the purpose of the ICSP at all (not on the Arduino, there it's clear to program the ATMEGA directly), but the soldered socket on the assembled Proto Shield which connects to the ICSP header on the Arduino. The +5V, GND and RST are this way connected to the same signals on the other headers (creating a loop). And the remaining 3 signals are available on the other headers too.
