The Arduino crowd designed and put a first run supply up for sale with the idea that it could add the kit to it's offering and thereby join the ranks of 3D printers. apparently there is no more left in the supply chain as evidenced by Arduino's supply page withdrawing the ability to order.
The design is similar to the Sharebot Kiwi found at: http://www.sharebot.it/index.php/3d-printers/sharebot-kiwi-3d-kit/?lang=en
In fact Sharebot and Arduino profess to have designed the printer together, and one of Sharebot's logo was packaged with my kit.
It has been months since Arduino removed their order site and one of the directors of this site (and an employee of Arduino) has stated in a posting that Arduino is evaluating the decision to continue the offering.
One thing to keep in mind that there are many offerings of kits that do 3D printing that cost from $200 to $1000. All you have to do is google 3D printing. and Amazon and other mail order sites have offerings.
