In my project I need to send SMS on specific events (i.e. reading temperature sensor values over a treshold).

For what above I bought and Arduino Due and a GSM board (SIM800L)  http://www.ebay.it/itm/Modulo-GSM-GPRS-SIM800L-Tim-Wind-Vodafone-Telefono-Cellulare-Arduino-GPS-SIM900/171888296643?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140620074313%26meid%3D650562cca49b481ab3f4fe2525d62988%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D181807115530

I'm now wondering if  I can directly connect the TX and RX pin of the GSM board (that is powered with +5V) to one of the RX/TX pin of the Arduino Due board. Is the TX/RX level of the GSM board compatible with the Arduino Due?

Do I have to put a bi-directional level shifter (3.3 V to 5 V) between the RX/TX pins of the Arduino and the pins of the GSM board?

I don't want to burn the Arduino Due :o

Any help is welcome!
