Topic: Problem with Compilation (Read 572 times) previous topic - next topic

Can somebody tell me why the compilation process last for 10 minutes and longer? Even if I use a basic program from a list for example Blink...

I have 1.6.8 version.

Please help me :(

Compilation (verify) or upload? Which OS?

If you understand an example, use it.
If you don't understand an example, don't use it.

A bunch of people have had IDE 1.6.x problems, including IDE crashes and bizarre compile errors, when they had a previous 1.5.x/1.6.x installation.  At least some of those problems seem to be caused by out-of-date executables that the IDE saves outside the IDE installation directory.  Perhaps that is what is causing your particular problem.  In such cases it appears that the fix is to delete or rename the old "Arduino15" directory and re-install 1.6.x.

On Windows:

On Linux:
/home/(username)/.arduino15    (a.k.a. ~/.arduino15)

I've seen people complaining of really slow compile times for a while now. Nobody ever seems to have a concrete solution, but it definitely has a large impact on some users.

I'm not sure if it started with 1.6.6 (1.6.5r5 was the last good version - 6 and 7 had compiler problems, and 8 has a super nasty bug in serial handling), or existed before that.
