Topic: Arduino IDE will not open on Ubuntu 14.04 (Read 357 times) previous topic - next topic

I have been using Arduino IDE for a while now on Ubuntu without a problem.  Last time I used it successfully was yesterday.  This evening, when I try to load the IDE, I get the splash screen for about 2 seconds and it disappears and the IDE never comes up.  I tried restarting the computer several times to no benefit. Nothing has changed in the IDE configuration since yesterday and I haven't added any new software or changed anything in the configurations. The only thing I've done today was to download the marlin firmware for my 3d Printer.  I haven't even installed it in Arduino yet.

I need some guidance on where to look for a problem.  I'm afraid my Ubuntu skills are still pretty weak. Any suggestion to get me started diagnosing this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
