How would I use two Piezo buzzers on either side of a metal plate to transmit data, the simplest way possible?

Since this is kind-of a unique project I think you'll have to figure-out the details yourself.

The 1st thing would be to activate the transmitter and confirm that you can detect something on the receiver.   If you can detect if the transmitter is transmitting or not, you have the basis of binary transmission.

Then you can look-up how serial transmission works (maybe RS232) with a baud rate, start & stop bits, etc.

And/or, you might look into how a telegraph works (Morse Code) or how a modem works (converting serial digital data to audio and back to digital on the other end).

Look at using a modem libiary at both ends. Run it at low speed.
