If...this is a 4-20mA sensor, then it's better to a 51ohm sense resistor, as used the diagram in post#4 here.

But first we need to know IF it's a 4-20mA sensor.


Use a 250 ohm or 220 ohm to ground.  From that add a 10k or so in series with the analog input to
prevent any damage should the output rise above 5V or the Arduino be without power.

Nothing is going to overheat with those values and a 20mA current output, you can calculate the power
and check that:

P = I^2 R = V^2 / R = V I
