My Arduino is not working properly after being unused for a long time!! :smiley-confuse:  :smiley-confuse:

When I plug in the USB cable into the computer normally
the power led(green) along with the Pin 13 LED(orange)
turns on.

But today when I plugged in the Arduino into my computer
the power LED turned but the PIN 13 LED did not turn on
at first but then when I kept my hand under the connections
below the board it turned on and I also found out that when
I kept my arduino straight on paper or glass surface it did not
turn on, only a dim light could be seen.
It turns on only when hold it in the air.

When I try to Upload a sketch to the Arduino,
The Arduino takes a long time in the Uploading screen
and finally fails to upload the sketch and shows the following error:

Code: [Select]
Arduino: 1.6.8 (Windows XP), Board: "Arduino/Genuino Uno"

Sketch uses 450 bytes (1%) of program storage space. Maximum is 32,256 bytes.
Global variables use 9 bytes (0%) of dynamic memory, leaving 2,039 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2,048 bytes.

Problem uploading to board.  See http://www.arduino.cc/en/Guide/Troubleshooting#upload for suggestions.

I am using an Arduino Uno with Arduino 1.6.8 in Windows XP.
Board: "Arduino/Genuino Uno"
Port: COM16("Arduino/Genuino Uno")

This problem persists in every code I try to upload..

Even the Blink code does not work.

I don't think there is a problem with the USB interface(Atmega 16U2)
because it successfully passed the loopback test.

Any help is Appreciated. :(  :(

Sounds from the initial description like a dry solder joint.

Get a magnifying glass and check all that you can and re-touch the solder points you are capable of doing.

Also check for debris on the board. Been mentioned occasionally about small bits of wire and solder from working on or around the board.

It may not be the answer you were looking for but its the one I am giving based on either experience, educated guess, google (who would have thunk it ! ) or the fact that you gave nothing to go with in the first place so I used my wonky crystal ball.
