Excrutiating load times for importing files into a sketch

Has anyone else been having long wait times when importing a file into a sketch? Mine takes about 3 minutes.

Don't know, never tried. What are you importing, and how?

There are multiple reasons for poor load times and in almost all cases it is down to a few basic things.
Have a basic help file attached here for your reference .
It may not be the answer you were looking for but its the one I am giving based on either experience, educated guess, google (who would have thunk it ! ) or the fact that you gave nothing to go with in the first place so I used my wonky crystal ball.
