Topic: Serial ports greyed out in Linux Ubuntu (Read 153 times) previous topic - next topic

The serial ports are greyed out (muted) in Linux Ubuntu 18.04.   Have looked everywhere I can think of for suggestion.  this problem has evidently occurred for years.  Have not found a fix.
Please advise.

Tools -> Ports menu greyed out indicates that Arduino does not see any serial ports

Does the OS detect the arduino when you connect it?

Did you add your user to the dialout group? Did you run the arduino-linux-setup.sh script when installing?

The official Linux installation instructions could really use an update though, there's no mention of the setup script at all.
