Have you given any thought about the in rush of the ac circuit running the compressor? The 10 amp contacts may roast or weld together when the 3/4HP motor starts. In the instant that the contacts close the motor current can reach 6 times the running current, until the motor windings are saturated. Find a relay that the contacts are rated for 20 amps, is my suggestion.

yikes!  Ok I took an AC clamp meter to my lines on the compressor:

white = 29 max
green = 28 max
black = gnd

So yes, 10A is too little.

But that doesnt mean its 57A draw is it?
