Topic: Arduino 1.8.5 can't open device "/dev/ttyACM0" (Read 232 times) previous topic - next topic

I'm out of options, please help.
I installed the IDE version 1.8.5 on Ubuntu linux 18.x
When compiling and uploading I receive the before mentioned message.
I tried:
sudo usermod -a -G tty jan
sudo usermod -a -G dialout  jan
sudo chmod a+rw /dev/ttyACM0
Still the same message.
Then I tried:
sudo apt install --reinstall arduino
preferences.txt Checked the serial it says: "/dev/ttyACM0" (zero! not O)
Still the same message.

The remarkable thing is that when I compile and upload in the terminal all went well.
Just what is going on here?

As I said I'm out of options, please help.
