Topic: Arduino Uno WiFI Rev2 Connection error (Read 442 times) previous topic - next topic

I get a message "Programmer not responding" Make sure that FirmwareUpdater sketch is loaded on the board."

The "Open Updater sketch" doesn't load.

I'm new to the Arduino world. I apologize if there is a posting for this issue as I have not found it and have looked.

Thanks for any help!

My board does show up in windows 7 device manager as "mEDBG CMSIS-DAP" on COM8
Also, The "ON" led is on and the "L" led is blinking.

First you need to install the Arduino megaAVR Boards package:
  • Tools > Board > Boards Manager
  • Wait for downloads to finish
  • Scroll down through the available packages list until you see "Arduino megaAVR Boards". Click on it.
  • Click "Install".
  • Wait for the installation to finish. If you are prompted about the installation of the driver, approve it.
  • Click "Close".

The "Open Updater sketch" doesn't load.
Probably because you don't have the WiFiNINA library installed. You can install it like this:
  • Sketch > Include Library > Manage Libraries...
  • Wait for download to finish.
  • In the "Filter your search..." field, type "wifinina". Press "Enter".
  • In the search results, click "WiFiNINA by Arduino".
  • Click "Install".
  • Wait for the installation to finish.
  • Click "Close".

Now you can give the firmware update process a try if you like:
  • File > Examples > WiFiNINA > Tools > FirmwareUpdater
  • Tools > Board > Arduino Uno WiFi Rev2
  • Tools > Port > select the port marked as "Arduino Uno WiFi Rev2"
  • Sketch > Upload
  • Wait for the upload to finish successfully
  • Tools > WiFi101 / WiFiNINA Firmware Updater
  • Select the port of your Uno WiFi Rev2 from the ports list in the Firmware Updater window.
  • From the "2. Update Firmware" menu, select "NINA Firmware (1.2.2) (Arduino Uno WiFi Rev2)".
  • Click the "Update Firmware" button.
  • Wait for the firmware update process to finish.
  • Click the "OK" button.
  • Close the firmware updater window

Pert, Thank you very much!! Only version 1.2.1 was available but it is communicating.

Oops. Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to a beta tester version of the Arduino IDE which has the new 1.2.2 firmware version when I wrote those instructions. I'm very glad to hear it's communicating now. Enjoy!
