hi - going mad here,

i'm having real problems installing arduino uno on win 7 64 bit

when i plug the board in - nothing - not recognised
in device manager arduino uno appears not under ports (com and lpt) - but under "other devices" - with an exclamation mark.
right click to update driver software
navigate to driver folder
windows cannot find driver software for your device

totally stumped - tried 22, and 17 v of arduino - same result

can anyone advise?

I know this isn't much help other than to confirm that arduino 22 definitely works fine on W7 64 but I run it on two different machines without problem.

navigate to driver folder

Make sure it is arduino-0022/drivers/ (not /drivers/FTDIwhatever).

I have the same problem as nanbot_23.  Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I installed my arduino uno in Win7 64bit. so it works perfectly. follow these instructions

4 | Install the drivers
Installing drivers for the Arduino Uno with Windows7
Plug in your board and wait for Windows to begin it's driver installation process.  After a few moments, the process will fail, despite its best efforts
Click on the Start Menu, and open up the Control Panel.
While in the Control Panel, navigate to System and Security. Next, click on System. Once the System window is up, open the Device Manager.
Look under other devices.  You should see a device called Arduino "
Right click on the "Arduino" port and choose the "Update Driver Software" option.
Next, choose the "Browse my computer for Driver software" option.
Finally, navigate to and select the Uno's driver file, named "ArduinoUNO.inf", located in the "Drivers" folder of the Arduino Software download (not the "FTDI USB Drivers" sub-directory).
window navigates to the folder in which you put up the file, not the file. So copy .inf file paste it in some other folder and navigate the window to that folder
Windows will finish up the driver installation from there.
DONE

As you indicated, Arduino UNO appears under "other devices" in my Device Manager.  It does not appear under "Port (COM & LPT)".  Is this normal?

Here's the steps I've been using:

Right click on Arduino Uno and select "Update Driver Software...".
Next I select "Browse my computer for driver software".
I then browse to the folder containing the extracted files.
Once in the folder I then select "arduino-0022" and then "drivers".
At this point, I can only see the "FTDI USB Drivers" folder.
I can not see the "Arduino MEGA 2560.inf" and "Arduino UNO.inf" files.
These 2 files can however be seen by opening the "drivers" folder.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help Shubham.

I was expecting to select a file.  Once I followed your instructions ("window navigates to the folder in which you put up the file, not the file. So copy .inf file paste it in some other folder and navigate the window to that folder"), it installed successfully.

Thanks again,
Mark

Hi,

Been having the same problem (see above from Stoffa40) but your suggestion doesn't work for me.
Any other ideas?

Cheers
