No good will come from connecting servos to the arduino 5v pin, except for the learning experience that you should never power motors from the 5v pin.

Much better to use your external supply with proper wiring (breadboards are often a point of failure for servo level power requirements).

But why so? I am a complete novice and would like to know why, thank you for your answer!

The Arduino 5V pin cannot reliably supply enough current for even one small servo (or a motor). It is intended only for low current sensors, potentiometers etc. Using it for excessive current may probably will, damage the Arduino.
