Milone eTape liquid level sensor mounting ideas

Does anyone have any mounting ideas for this thing?
It relies on a tiny air gap between two sheets of thin plastic that get squashed together by the hydrostatic pressure so it is very sensitive to being twisted or bent with consequent wild variations in resistance, but the datasheets don't say much. From a mechanical perspective it seems to have a mind of its own - simply hanging it from the top isn't an option as it tries to cling to the side of the container. To keep it perfectly flat I'm contemplating putting it on fibreglass sheet with blobs of epoxy at intervals along the edges. Hopefully this wont disturb the measuring mechanics.
(When it is behaving properly, it does work as advertised.)

These are the datasheets
