Topic: MKR WIFI1010 do not works with Windows 10 Pro 1803 and Arduino 1.8.9 (Read 434 times) previous topic - next topic

Hi

I received my MKR WIFI1010 and to test it I follow "Getting started with the MKR WiFi 1010". First I updated to Arduino 1.8.9 and then I installed "Arduino SAMD Boards (32-bits ARM Cortex-MO+) 1.8.1" and "WiFiNINA 1.4.0".

The instructions say: "Windows (tested on 7, 8 and 10)
If you properly installed the SAMD Core, just connect the MKR WIFI 1010 to your computer with a USB cable. Windows should initiate its driver installation process once the board is plugged in".

This do not occur, the WIFI1010 turns on the green led and blinks the orange led. Windows do not detects any com and the Arduino IDE do not shows any com.

The IDE shows a weird message in the botton (see attachment) "Arduino MKR  WiFi 1010 em COM6".

I do a new installation in a notebook also with Windows 10 Pro 1803 and the results were the same.

Sages do not say what they know, fools do not know what they say

I also tried with Arduino Web Editor but it do not recognizes the WIFI1010 in any com.

I tried with Arduino 1.8.8 with the same result: the USB connection do not generate the installation of the serial drivers.

I think that my wifi1010 came damaged.

Some help?

Make sure the USB cable is fully inserted into your Arduino board and the computer.

You might have a damaged, defective, or charge-only USB cable. Try it with a different cable.

toscanaccio

Yes!!!

thank you pert, it is the cable, it was a charge-only USB cable. I thought of everything except the cable!!!

You're welcome. I'm glad to hear it's working now. Enjoy!

Now I tried to run the Blink example but I receive this errors ???:

If you look in C:\\Users\\filippo\\AppData\\Local\\Arduino15\\packages\\arduino\\tools\\CMSIS\\4.5.0/CMSIS/Include/, do you see a file named core_cm0plus.h? It should be there. Note that the AppData folder is a system folder and so Windows will hide it from you by default. You can jump right to the Arduino15 folder by clicking the link at the line following File > Preferences > More preferences can be edited directly in the file in the Arduino IDE.

toscanaccio

OK, I see that there is nothing in .../include/ but were I get "core_cm0plus.h" to put over there? and why is not there? I am running the Blink example that by the "Getting started with the MKR WiFi 1010" should execute without problems.

This indicates something went wrong with your installation of Arduino SAMD Boards. Since we don't know what else might have been corrupted in addition to this, I recommend starting fresh:
Delete all files and folders under C:\Users\\filippo\AppData\Local\Arduino15. Please be very careful when deleting files from your computer. When in doubt, back up!
Start the Arduino IDE
Tools > Board > Boards Manager
Wait for the downloads to finish
Click on "Arduino SAMD Boards"
Click the "Install" button.
Wait for the installation to finish.
Tools > Board > Arduino MKR WiFi 1010

Now try compiling again. Hopefully the problem will now be fixed.

why is not there?
I have no idea. The checksum of the download is checked by the Arduino IDE before installing CMSIS so it can't be a corrupted download. Something must have gone wrong during the installation process. Maybe something interrupted the installation? Maybe you ran out of disk space? Maybe your antivirus software interfered?

toscanaccio

Nothing went wrong during installation that I have seen. I do what you tell me to reinstall  "Arduino SAMD Boards" and now all is OK (all the xxx.h are in the ...include/) and Blink compiles OK!. Thank you for your help!!!
