Request better IDE startup

Every time I start the IDE (release 22) I have to

  1. Open my most recent project;
  2. Close the original IDE form; and
  3. Resize the IDE to the size and location that I prefer

Would it be possible for the IDE to remember the most recent project, open it automatically, and remember the size and location of the most recently used IDE window? That would be very convenient!

don't close, quit
I know it's silly, but that wasn't the question

close = close & forget
quit = close & remember

It doesn't remember window size... too bad.

In the FIle->Preferences menu you can edit the preferences.txt file and set your default window size. Not the last size but you get a good working size most of the times. Probably there are other options you want to play with too.

Make a copy of the original file befor fiddling preferences.txt so you can always go back.

my 2 cents,
Rob

oh yes it does (panto season here early?)

I just tried it
Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate
opened IDE
changed the window shape/size
file/quit
re-opened - still same size

you pushed the wrong button bacon brain (Miss Piggy - the muppets)

I only have one File-quit (or CTRL-Q), and that doesn't do the trick. What the hell???

Kari

ah
just noticed
you're using version 22

I'm still on 21

maybe they "fixed" the "bug" :astonished:

Just like Microsoft makes new versions, leave out old good functions?

Ctrl-Q remembers both size and last .pde for me, version 0022, Windows 7 64 Home Premium.

If only the "close" button was made a "quit" button.

you're not wrong there Darth!
