I really hope it's not true, but I just read on reddit that the main developer of the FastLED (addressable LED) library died in a boat accident a few days ago.

My first proper Arduino projects all used addressable LEDs.

Very sad. Dan Garcia certainly made an important contribution to the Arduino community by putting so much excellent work into giving us a powerful, high quality library for addressable LEDs. I know that legacy will live on for many years to come, and I'm certain that's only one of many amazing things they did.
