the IDE serial box needs an option to clear after so many lines or something similar for times when its flooded really fast so that the program don't become unresponsive for short periods of time. Maybe even a option to log to a file too


Or write your code to NOT flood hte serial output. But that aside, I use putty as my 'Serial Monitor' and find it has a lot of usefull features.

External serial monitors are much better as Robin suggests and there are lots of them.

The one in the IDE is not really meant for heavy workloads.
I too use putty or coolterm

It may not be the answer you were looking for but its the one I am giving based on either experience, educated guess, google (who would have thunk it ! ) or the fact that you gave nothing to go with in the first place so I used my wonky crystal ball.
