Help!. I have a toshiba k307 transistor. and I need to no how to rig it up for transistor switching. I rigged it up earlier properly. when I used a nine volt battery it would switch the fan on and off but when I hooked up my 12 volt psu to it it wouldn't switch off. the transistor is out of an old power supply. I have more larger ones. I also got some capacitors and resistors and the inductors and two diodes. Which is positive and which is negative on the capacitors. Also which way is which on a diode.

Some capacitors don't have them they are said to be non polerised. Others are marked with a + or - or both.
Basically if it is not marked it is non polerised. It is only the larger capacitors that are polerised.

The cathode end normally is marked with a ring
