Topic: newbie aurdino IDE 1.8.13 Mac Catalina is painfully slow (Read 254 times) previous topic - next topic

I wonder if maybe something is not installed correctly? I just bought a new mac with 39GB of ram however my Arduino nano 33 BLE project takes forever to compile and install. My sketch is not even 100 lines. It seems like it compiles a bunch of library code every time I try to upload the sketch.

Most c/c++ development environments use something like make to manage dependencies so that only files that have changed compile

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I thinking about switching micro controls because my build is so slow

Kind regards

Andy

How would you know? Forever has not finished yet?

Not relavent on an IDE that runs on a virtual system.

Don't think about it, Do or not Do!

Now, WHAT CODE, have you tried the Blink sketch? How long is 'forever' in this case? What OS? What verion of IDE? HAve you tried an older/newer version of the IDE?

It may not be the answer you were looking for but its the one I am giving based on either experience, educated guess, google (who would have thunk it ! ) or the fact that you gave nothing to go with in the first place so I used my wonky crystal ball.
