Chris caught COVID in March, after retiring on the way home from a long put-off honeymoon in Georgia.

I'd hear from him, he'd always be tired. And then in September:

I found out why I am so sluggish and disinterested. I've been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic and/or liver and/or intestinal cancer.  3 diagnostic rounds and they stilll can't tell exactly where it is. Ive been catscanned head to toe a dozen times, so they just started general purpose chemo, along with weekly scanning. Meanwhile I can barely get out of bed (nor do I want to...

I am however looking forward to loosing my hair - I always wanted to rock the bald look.

Once since then we spoke on the phone.
Last night I called and got a message "Can I call you later?", turned out to be his widow.

WHY do these Bad Actors LIVE and a good guy like him dies? I'm so sick of fascists and their supporters!

Chris will be missed.

A character with a sense of humour, humility, and knowledge.

It may not be the answer you were looking for but its the one I am giving based on either experience, educated guess, google (who would have thunk it ! ) or the fact that you gave nothing to go with in the first place so I used my wonky crystal ball.

My condolences to anyone who knew him, on and off of the Arduino community.


@Robin2: He must have been only some 67 years of age, i remembered that post.
Have a look at "blink without delay".

So sad to see this news - I will miss his good humour.
Please pass on condolences.

Close to 70 if not 70 or 71. He worked on some neat tech before he settled down to teaching chemistry.

Electronics engineer by trade, software engineer by profession. Trying to get back into electronics after 15 years absence.

Sorry to hear. I lost one of my uncles just yesterday to a similar cancer. I wasn't too close to him, but still cancer sucks....

Cancer is the thing I fear the most.

I have been away from the forum for a while and I am saddened to read this. Chris's posts were always enjoyable and the photographs of work he did with schools and high altitude balloons were interesting and inspiring. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
